Chorley East residents invited to help shape how new community centre is used.

Community Event at Tatton Community Centre

7 August 2023

Residents of the Chorley East area are invited to a community event being held at Tatton Community Centre and recreation ground on Saturday 12 August, 12pm - 4pm.

The day will consist of fun activities for the community to enjoy, plus community groups will be showcasing their services and local residents will be able to give their feedback on what type of activities services they'd like to see at the community centre in the future.

Following the completion of the Tatton Gardens development on Windermere Road, the event will be delivered by UDevelop, who lead the way in personal development, supported by Chorley Council and Rise Construction Framework. The project was procured through Rise Construction Framework who are a socially driven business re-investing profits into communities and have funded a series of activities for local residents over the next 12 months.

Exhibitors at the event will include those offering exercise, gardening, digital services, support services, providers of yoga, self-defence and line dancing classes, plus there'll be fun activities such as free face painting, free football coaching, ice cream and candy floss available to purchase.

Councillor Beverley Murray, Executive Member of Chorley Council (Early Intervention) said "An important part of delivering the Tatton Gardens development was not only to create the facilities but to make sure they brought value to the local community. We're pleased to be supporting UDevelop in organising this event to showcase the activities and services. This and other events will be used to give residents the opportunity to shape the community centre timetable, identifying activities, groups and support which should be available at their local community centre"

Caroline Greer, UDevelop CIC Director said: "UDevelop are very proud to be a part of this exciting event and programme. We look forward to working with the delivery partners within Chorley borough and developing and supporting local groups"

Other facilities at Tatton Gardens include 62 extra care apartments, new community centre, community café, new GP surgery, children's nursery, revamped recreation ground, spaces for pharmacy and hair salon.

Please note that if you are attending the event, parking is very limited, so please walk there if possible. If you're intending to drive to the event, you will be asked to park elsewhere. See information and a handy map of town centre car parks.
